Matchday 18

Sky's the limit for Bayern

Having bettered just about every record going in 2013, FC Bayern wasted no time in setting another best-mark this year. Their 2-0 victory over high-flying Borussia Mönchengladbach extended the all-time best away record to 27 consecutive games unbeaten. Watch this space for more records from Mario Götze and Co in the coming weeks: there's little sign of their appetite for victory waning yet.

Nürnberg's long wait over

No Nürnberg coach has ever had to wait as long as Gertjan Verbeek for his first win in charge: Their 4-0 triumph over Hoffenheim was the Dutchman's ninth game at the helm. Josip Drmic's first ever Bundesliga brace set Nürnberg on their way, helping der Club to their biggest league win in almost three years (since a 5-0 mauling of 1. FC St. Pauli in March 2011).

Augsburg on a roll

When FC Augsburg host SV Werder Bremen on Matchday 19, they can break a club record if they pick up at least a point. The Bavarians' 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday was their sixth successive game without defeat, a streak the club also went on in 2012. Furthermore, for the first time in the Bundesliga, the Fuggerstädter have gone four away games without losing.

Not like father, like son

Leonardo Bittencourt scored the 500th goal of the Bundesliga season in Hannover 96's 3-1 win at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday. By comparison, it took two more matchdays for as many goals to fall in the 2012/13 campaign. The 20-year-old midfielder added a second to seal his first ever brace, going one better than his father Franklin, a striker by trade, who never managed to score two in one game during his Bundesliga playing career with FC Energie Cottbus.

Frankfurt's wait over

It may have been a long time coming, but Eintracht Frankfurt were finally able to celebrate their 400th home win on Saturday. The 1-0 victory over Hertha Berlin was their first win at the Commerzbank this season and their 755th home game overall. For coach Armin Veh, it represented a first: he had never beaten Hertha Berlin in 11 previous attempts as a coach.
